Surviving the Job Hunt During Your Notice Period

Hi Folks, Finding a job during your notice period can be incredibly stressful — especially when you’re serving a long one, like 90 days. Many companies hesitate to move forward with candidates who aren’t immediately available, which only adds to the pressure.

With each passing day, the anxiety tends to build. On top of that, the full and final (F&F) settlement process becomes another concern. In many organizations, it can take 40–45 days after your last working day to receive your dues. That means you could go without a steady income for 60–65 days. It’s important to plan ahead and have at least 2–3 months of savings to stay financially secure during this transition.
However, this period isn’t just about waiting — it’s an opportunity.

Don’t stop learning while you’re on your notice period. Keep upgrading your skills, preparing for interviews, and staying active in the job market. Regularly update your profiles on platforms like Naukri, LinkedIn, Indeed, Foundit, and others. Even small updates once a week can help keep your profile visible to recruiters.

Apply consistently — not just through job portals, but also directly on company career pages. The more proactive you are, the better your chances.

Every interview you attend is a learning experience. It helps you understand your strengths and identify areas for improvement. Instead of getting discouraged by rejection, treat it as feedback. Failing an interview doesn’t mean you’re not capable — it simply means your current skill set may not align with that specific role.

Focus on improving your weaknesses, keep pushing forward, and stay consistent.

This phase may feel overwhelming, but it’s temporary — and it can lead you to better opportunities.

All the best for your future endeavors.
